Why this Initiative?
Making a contribution to the Church
We expect our bishops to be shepherds for the Church. The shepherd protects his flock from outside dangers and gives it direction. This means governing a diocese that spans entire provinces, leading hundreds of priests, spreading and defending the faith in our society — and still finding time to put every individual soul who comes to him first.
This is a beautiful calling, but also a heavy one. It is not self-evident that a bishop can carry this responsibility without compromise or breaking under the pressure. Yet we as believers need bishops who persevere. That is why it is important that we include our bishops in our prayers.
We want to support our bishops, because they support us. After all, we are all called to be Christians in our own place in society, with the challenges that come with it. Bishops are called to be shepherds — but we are called to support them. For everyone who asks receives (Matt 7:8).
We therefore invite you to join our project, for faith can move mountains!
How do I get involved?
You can adopt a bishop at the bottom of this page. You will be assigned a bishop and receive a prayer as a suggestion. Then it is time to pray! You can follow our prayer suggestion, but feel free to pray for your bishop in your own way. We encourage you to pray daily — otherwise there is a risk you may forget. And that would be a shame, because we really need your prayers!
